Abstract:
The formation of polycyclic ethers using a reiterative approach has only three necessary steps; conjugate addition, cyclisation, and reduction. This work outlines the in-depth exploration of the conjugate addition which has shown the novel TMS-shuttle conjugate addition allows for access to previously unobtainable moieties. The photoredox catalysed process to effect cyclisation in a stereoselective manner has been achieved through the use of the polyoxometalate tetra–n-butylammonium decatungstate (TBADT). Lastly the stereoselecitve reduction of the cyclic ketone has been accomplished to finish the three necessary steps for the reiterative cycle.
