Title: Application of Preclinical Imaging in Drug Discovery and Nanoparticle Development

Abstract: We would like to invite you to a presentation on the advanced preclinical imaging facility and support services provided by the Sydney Imaging Core Research Facility. Their facility offers a range of biomedical imaging technologies, including 7T MRI, 3T MRI/PET, µCT, Ultrasound, Optical Imaging, DXA, and EchoMRI. Additionally, a new PET/CT system will soon be installed. The on-site team provides comprehensive support, including study design, image acquisition, image and data analysis, and visualisation support. This seminar offers a great opportunity to learn about preclinical imaging capabilities and how it can be applied to drug discovery and nanoparticle development.

Our speaker, Dr Arvind Parmar, is an expert in preclinical imaging and the Technical Facility Manager at the Sydney Imaging Core Research Facility. With 19 years of experience in drug discovery and preclinical imaging, Dr. Parmar’s focus is on using molecular imaging technologies to improve diagnostic and therapeutic tools for cancer, cardiovascular, neurological, and metabolic-related diseases.

This webinar will showcase the cutting-edge capabilities of Sydney Imaging, and offer examples of their application in research projects conducted by the School of Chemistry. The seminar aims to help with future project planning within the School of Chemistry. We cordially invite you to take advantage of this exceptional opportunity.

Bio: The speaker for the upcoming Chemistry School Seminar is Dr. Arvind Parmar, Technical Facility Manager at the Sydney Imaging Core Research Facility in the University of Sydney. Dr. Parmar is an expert in preclinical imaging and has a PhD in Pharmacology from M.S. University of Baroda, India. He started his career as a Research Scientist at Sun Pharmaceutical research centre in India and later worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Manchester in the UK. He also worked as an Imaging Scientist at AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical before moving to Sydney in 2011 to join ANSTO as a PET and SPECT Imaging Scientist. Dr. Parmar specialises in molecular imaging technologies for Cancer, Cardiovascular, Neurological, and metabolic-related diseases to enhance diagnostic and therapeutic tools. His talk at the seminar will focus on the application of Molecular imaging in Drug Discovery and Nanoparticle Development.
